The Giant of Giant's Causeway
Myths and legends are fantastic narratives that are not necessary true, but use real facts to make people believe in them, and a place with stunning scenery like The Causeway wouldn't be different. According to the tradition, a giant by the name of Finn McCool once lived in Northern Ireland. When another monster, Benandonner, threatened Ireland from Scotland across the Irish Sea Finn replied by ripping up huge parts of the Antrim coastline and throwing them into the sea. With the newly-created path – the Giant’s Causeway – Finn was able to cross the sea to reach Benandonner.
On the other hand, science comes up with a different explanation. According to the The Guardian, the Giant's Causeway is a result of a volcanic eruption that happened over 50 million years ago, which cooled and solidified into the columns that we see today.

If you are wondering when is the best time for your trip, we highly recommend visiting during the summer months considering that the blue sky and the sun shining and reflecting in the sea will make your experience even more magical. The Causeway is open all year round, and you can explore it on foot at your own pace.
The tour is available for all fitness levels and the amount of time that you want to spend there, you just need to choose one of the several trails available and enjoy it. The main trail is the Cliff Top Path, which is about a mile long and offers stunning views of the Causeway and the surrounding area. The Shepherd's Steps is another popular trail that takes you down to the Causeway itself, a bit more challenging but really worth it.
Spoiler alert: when you reach the Causeway, you'll be amazed at the sheer size of the columns and the intricacy of their interlocking design. The columns range in height from a few inches to over 30 feet, and they're incredibly smooth to the touch. You can walk along the top of the columns, and even climb some of them for a better view. The Causeway is surrounded by rugged cliffs and crashing waves, which add to the dramatic beauty of the landscape.

Great article 👏 Visiting the Giant's Causeway is an amazing experience, it's just so breathtaking everywhere you look.
ReplyDeleteThere's a pub near the carpark (can't remember the name of it) but it's worth a visit for a bite to eat or a drink after exploring the Causeway 😃
Wow! 😲 I had no idea that it was actually the result of a volcanic eruption! Crazy to think how much of its old appearance the world has retained, and makes me think of the evolution of the Giant's Causeway throughout the times. Has it always looked like this? 🤔 Excellent to know that there are other attractions to visit nearby. I know there's the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, but I had no business there and a total of zero courage to cross it haha - Julio Costa
