Ireland is a land of enchantment, steeped in folklore and legend. From the rolling green hills to the rugged coastlines, the country is filled with magical creatures and stories that have captivated imaginations for centuries. Here are some of the most well-known Irish magical creatures and folklores, including banshees, leprechauns, and more.

1. Banshees

The banshee, or "bean sidhe" in Gaelic, is a female spirit from Irish folklore who is said to wail and scream when someone is about to die. She is often depicted as an old hag with long hair and a ragged dress, and her mournful cries are said to be heard in the night.

According to the myths, the banshee is a messenger from the Otherworld, warning of impending death or tragedy. She is often associated with the ruling families of Ireland, and her cries were said to foretell the death of a member of the family.

  2. The Banshee makes me shiver 😱 I went to The Nightmare Realm last year on Halloween and there was a part at the end with an audio experience of the Banshee story. Very interesting and frightening. There's a good mixture of mischievous, playful and good creatures of the Irish folklore - Julio Costa

  3. It's amazing to learn more about the culture and differences in the folklore of each country, the stories that are passed down from generation to generation and are also part of the history of our ancestors. I am intrigued that the leprechauns are the keepers of the pots of gold at the end of rainbows; I didn't know that. 😱
In my hometown, Brazil, one of the most well-known tales is Saci-pererê. Saci is a boy who lives in the forest with only one leg and has special powers generated by his pipe and red hat. He always gets up to mischief wherever he goes: he likes to mess up the horses' manes at night, tying them in knots and braiding them. 🤭 - Dayane Torres

  4. The Banshee makes me shiver 😱 I went to The Nightmare Realm last year on Halloween and there was a part at the end with an audio experience of the Banshee story. Very interesting and frightening. I had no idea that the Banshee was Irish originally as I play the Witcher and there's a monster in the game that's inspired by it.
